Things haven't looked this bleak since after game 2 of the 1996 WS.Stevenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00789016478756887730noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8624254435992330014.post-91247321017263155962012-10-14T17:10:33.215-04:002012-10-14T17:10:33.215-04:00I could not agree more. The empty seats and not selling out multiple playoff games is a disgrace and an embarrassment.

As a long time Yankee fan who has never lived in New York and had never been to a Yankee playoff game, I was excited when I got tickets to ALDS Game 3 and ALCS Game 1 before the playoffs began. One of the things I was most excited about was to experience the playoff atmosphere at Yankee Stadium.

Needless to say, I was very disappointed. Even though it was really cool to be at the Game 3 in the 9th and 12th innings when Ibanez hit the home runs and the crowd went nuts, the crowd was dead for most of the game. And yesterday, ALCS Game 1, the atmosphere was terrible, and the empty seats were embarrassing. A huge number of people left after the 8th inning, and the stadium was at most 2/3 full when Ichiro and Ibanez homered in the 9th.

After hearing for years about the electric atmosphere and how the stadium could be felt shaking in the old stadium, ALCS Game 1 was about as far from that as you can get. And it made me significantly less likely to want to go to future Yankee playoff games in person.

Apparently the Yankees have done everything wrong with the new stadium, including pricing out average fans, effectively eliminating any home field advantage.

A good business mind would realize tickets are overpriced and lower the ticket prices. However, it sounds from what Randy Levine is saying, the Yankees will probably go the other way and eliminate their relationship with Stubhub.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04335692544322820460noreply@blogger.com
