Heck, maybe we can make a Subway Squawkers meet and greet out of it!

LisaSubway Squawkershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04156896665605326549noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8624254435992330014.post-80888686508444431502009-04-23T11:45:00.000-04:002009-04-23T11:45:00.000-04:00All my negative thoughts about the new stadium dis...All my negative thoughts about the new stadium disappeared after Sunday's experience. The freedom to walk around and watch the game from anywhere without missing a thing is great to me, especially when compared to the old stadium. I love the old stadium- believe you me- but I was spending more energy holding on to it for principle and not realizing what we were missing - like at Philly or B'more. They don't ask you to move so basically you can park yourself behind the great seats and enjoy the game. Food wise I wasn't that disappointed because I didn't have high expectations. I tried to eat as much as I could on both trips to advise the good people and think I did a decent job. Peep it HERE. Overall I look very forward to continued visits and lots of WINS.Howfresheatshttp://howfresheats.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8624254435992330014.post-86027396112665155282009-04-23T11:15:00.000-04:002009-04-23T11:15:00.000-04:00All too true, Lisa. But there's one good thing about it: You say that the rich guys don't seem to care about watching the Yankees, they only care about "being at Yankee Stadium." This should, forever, banish the idea that the Yankees are the rich guys' team and that the Mets are the people's team.

Maybe such a thing was true in the Fifties, when the Yankees would draw 20,000, and half would be in the bleachers and the other half would be Westchester and Connecticut businessmen entertaining clients, while 20,000 guys off the street would be going into Ebbets Field, and who exactly went to the Polo Grounds, anyway?

Now, we know who the real Yankee Fans are. Maybe Regis Philbin is one -- after all, he's a former street kid from The Bronx -- but the guy who sat next to him for the opener, Donald Trump, is not. I wouldn't mind sitting next to Reege, but I'd rather sit next to Kathie Lee Gifford than to The Donald. (Actually, I'd rather sit next to Kelly Ripa, and I'm not even a big fan of blondes!)

It may be some time before I get into Citi Field -- out of force of habit, I first typed "the new Shea Stadium" -- due to the Mets' schedule and my payday schedule getting into sync. But it looks great on TV, and one area where the Mets always had it over the Yankees (aside from parking) was food, so I'm looking forward to that. After all, whatever this "Shake Shack" has, it's gotta be better than Johnny Rocket's outdoing Jackrabbit Slim's with a seven-dollar milkshake. That won't bring anybody to the yard, and even Daniel Day-Lewis wouldn't drink that milkshake.Uncle Mikehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11618876073064128027noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8624254435992330014.post-8228381986756943422009-04-23T08:16:00.000-04:002009-04-23T08:16:00.000-04:00great review, Lisa, thanks.great review, Lisa, thanks.Bob in Kievhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07513329980801521852noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8624254435992330014.post-33560953450179341192009-04-23T02:37:00.000-04:002009-04-23T02:37:00.000-04:00Great review, Lisa.
