Real baseball.

From this day forward, I don't want to hear any Met fans talk about how they play "real baseball." The best relief pitcher they've ever had (may Tug forgive me) walked a guy with 2 previous career at-bats. With the bases loaded. Turning a one-run deficit into a two-run deficit.

Until the Mets can get Mariano Rivera out, their fans should get down on their knees and beg Bud Selig to put in the designated hitter, and put to sleep this idea that there's something special, even holy, about the National League. The NL wins the World Series every now and then, but it never wins the season series in Interleague Play, and whereas it was once unbeatable in the All-Star Game, now they haven't won that since 1996, when a steroided-up catcher for the Dodgers hit a long home run.

The National League... I do anyways, they're my favorite team and that's all there is to it. The next broom needed must be wielded by Omar, to clear out anyone and anything that has to do with the coaching staff from the top down. I understand injuries happen to all teams, but for Manuel to continue trotting Tatis out there is baffling at best. I knew the Wanger would beat the Mets. Not because of the depleted lineup, and not because he was facing Livan either. I knew he would beat the Mets because he hadn't won a game all season, and that's what the Mets do. The only thing that surprised me last night is that the Wanger was pulled in the 6th (Making me lose my bet by the way, as my Yankee fan friend said there's no way he gives them a quality start). Boy do I miss the late 90's, even with guys named Timo Perez and Benny Agbayani roaming the outfield, at least I had a team that was fun to watch. This is just painful!

Michael in CaliforniaAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
