That's what he dreamed about -- playing for a Team USA.

Chill out, he's excited about being there. And check out the first comment about his career splits in September/October.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8624254435992330014.post-63948675205555999952009-03-19T09:08:00.000-04:002009-03-19T09:08:00.000-04:00I don't see why people are complaining. All the g...I don't see why people are complaining. All the guys on Team USA were really pumped and excited about the game, talking about how its one of the greatest moments of their careers- even the pitchers who didn't pitch in the game. Nothing wrong with being excited...its not like Wright is walking around acting like he is the greatest player ever and got the most important hit in the history of baseball. Clearly teh players are into the WBC and are thrilled to win the game. Now that all the WBC haters who were complaining that nobody cares about the WBC were proven wrong, they apparently need to come up with something new to complain about- that players shouldn't care as much as they do.

There is nothing wrong with what Wright said. So the WBC didn't exist back then, but that doesn't mean a guy can't dream about the opportunity to play for the US in the Olympics or some type of international competition.

And as for Wright's quotes about hitting in pressure spots there is nothing wrong with being honest. He's admitted that he pressed in some situations last yr and wants to improve upon that. Maybe if A-Rod didn't come across as so phony, and was a bit more humble (spendng less time kissing your relection in a mirror would be a good start)the media wouldn't have gotten to dislike the guy so much in the first place.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8624254435992330014.post-15428291076918235692009-03-19T08:48:00.000-04:002009-03-19T08:48:00.000-04:00I dont think anything of what he said. When he said dreaming of being in that situation as a kid why does it have to be equated with the WBC?

I'm going to go out on a long, shaky limb and say he was simply talking about a game-winning and it has nothing to do with the WBC or when it was a glimmer in Selig's eye.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8624254435992330014.post-19114552911731395582009-03-19T08:19:00.000-04:002009-03-19T08:19:00.000-04:00How you can possibly call David Wright Mr. March a...How you can possibly call David Wright Mr. March and not sound bitter is beyond me. His career splits for September/October are .327/.395/.554, adding up to a .949 OPS. So basically, he plays almost 10% better than his career average. But I'm sure you didn't bother to looking anything up, because you'd rather throw conclusory accusations around to churn up controversy. I'm a fan, and have been reading your stuff for a while, but that just came across as amateur.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
