A-Rod's A-Hip problem means A--Mess for Yankees

I have a busy day ahead of me, after a busy day yesterday, so I don't have time for a full-fledged Squawk. But the A-Rod hip news, combined with the Yanks missing out on Manny Ramirez, has me down.

Alex Rodriguez is the oxygen thief of all oxygen thieves, to be sure. Squawker Jon wrote yesterday about it. And I do agree with Jon that there is a reality show idea in there. In addition to Squawker Jon's choices of A-Rod, T.O, and Manny, you could have Michael Jackson, Octomom, Britney Spears, and Lindsay Lohan trapped in a room, trying to see which one can get the most attention. Sheesh.

On a more serious note, this really messes up the Yanks' season, obviously. If A-Rod needs to have the surgery eventually, though, I would prefer he do it sooner rather than later. I do wonder why he didn't get this checked out last year, when the hip was first bothering him.

What do you think? Leave us a comment!

Lisa, the post was incomplete ... this is what I would give it a shot if push comes to shove ... move CanĂ³ to 3rd and give somebody else a shot at 2nd. It's a shame that the Orlando Hudson sweepstakes are over. Maybe the Mets are willing to unload Luis Castillo? Hahaha! This last one I'm kidding, rather have Cody Ransom, heck, rather have Willie Randolph play 2nd base.

Terrell Owens is a distraction because he criticizes his own teammates or coaches and is bad influence. A-Rod is just an attention grabber, Perez Hilton material. A-Rod is, in himself, a contradiction. So he will be a great politician someday! Just pondering if it will be for the US or the Dominican Republic ...

On a more serious note, Dallas McPherson if playing AAA for the Marlins ...

Like I've always said, A-Rod is this generation's Dave Winfield, the proclaimed best player in baseball that could never lift the Yankees to a championship; and will never be seen as better than the fans' favorite (Mattingly-Jeter). This all reminds me of Winfield being out for a whole year with a bad back - and the Yankees tumbled down to 74 wins.

My rec is move Tex to 3rd and Swisher to 1st Nady - OF.
Keep ARoid on ice or "rehabbing" in Tampa until after the new stadium opens. My best guess is he is put in hiding until after Selena Robert's book drops and the new stadium opens. I cannot imagine the Steinbrenner's want it to be an Arod circus opening their new state of the art stadium.
