MLB players left out on "Dancing With the Stars" - again

What is it going to take for ABC to finally pick a baseball player for "Dancing With the Stars"? As I noted in an article for The Faster Times, baseball was snubbed yet again from the competition.

I also came up with a list of players who should be on the show - Jonathan Papelbon, Alex Rodriguez, etc. I was wondering if our readers had any thoughts on who should be cast one day on "Dancing With the Stars."

Please let us know what you think! Leave us a comment!

  1. As soon as I saw the question I knew:

    David Cone!

He can finally figure out his own dance and he's got the kind of personality that would make for very entertaining television.

Of course, after reading your article the superficial aspect of my brain is contemplating A-Rod performing latin ballroom dances. My brain approves! His one hip may still bother him but as a pair they sure look good in tight pants.

  3. Since DWTS is during baseball season you will never see an active player but there are plenty of former stars to be called upon. I would personally love to see Paul O'Neill..they would just have to hide the water coolers if he should get bad scores from the judges... :o). I bet there are a lot of good dancers among the former players. (truthfully ..as much as I'd love to see him I don't think Paul is one of them tho' ..lol).

  4. That's hilarious, Peggy! O'Neill would be impossible to work with. Between snacking and taking his frustrations out on whatever beverages they offer, I think his partner would demand a trade.

So of course I'd love to see him do it.

  5. Oh, I have a WHOLE bunch of MLB players to name because as far as we all know, no MLB players - and I mean NO MLB PLAYERS - have EVER been invited to participate on 'Dancing with the Stars' since it launched in 2005...not even RETIRED MLB players.
There have been lots of other athletes, including Olympians (Kristi Yamaguchi and Shawn Johnson won their respective DWTS titles), boxers (such as Evander Holyfield), and NFL Football players (I think), but never MLB players.
One of the most obvious potential former MLB players to appear on DWTS would be Tino Martinez, who's a retired MLB player and has the kind of personality that would make him EXCELLENT for the show.
As for the active players, as Peggy said, they're anything but likely, but we'll see.
