The Mets in first place: Good for the Squawkers!

Jon is Eeyore, and I am Tigger. But what if Eeyore has
something to be happy about?
When it comes to baseball, I am a solipsist. (Squawker Jon would say that when it comes to pretty much everything, I am a solipsist, but no matter!) So I look at everything on whether it is going to be good for the Squawkers!

And guess what? The Mets being good again is good for the Squawkers! It is only the theme of our blog, after all!

We started Subway Squawkers on March 1, 2006. If you may remember, that was the first time since 2000 in which the Mets looked to be as good as the Yankees, if not better. And sure enough, the Mets were within one Carlos Beltran called strike of making the World Series that year.

That was the high point. In 2007 and 2008, the Mets should have made the postseason, but had epic collapses both years, missing the playoffs by losing the last game of the season both times.

And it was all downhill from there. In 2009, the Yankees won the World Series. The Mets haven't even sniffed the playoffs.

But now, the Mets are finally looking great again. They now have sole possession of first place, and even Squawker Jon (aka Eeyore) is feeling more positive about the team. So this changes everything! No longer do I have to pull my punches when it comes to giving Jon the what-for! Can I start by mocking Bartolo Colon's comical at-bats, or Jenrry Mejia failing a PED test for the same substance he failed the previous PED test for?

This turn of events will hopefully mean bigger and better things for the Squawkers. Instead of the ship be sinking, the sky's the limit!

And look at that clip below! A sellout crowd rocking Citi Field? Mind blown!
