Mark Teixeira deal has me in Lowe spirits

This has not been a good week. First the Jets choke, then the Yankees steal Mark Teixeira away from the Red Sox.

I hope I'm wrong, but I think this is a great move for the Yankees. With Bobby Abreu and Jason Giambi no longer in the lineup, the Yankees needed someone like Teixeira just as much as they needed CC Sabathia.

I can't believe that Boston would once again let their main rival grab a top player over a few million dollars. If you're going to go as high as $170 million, isn't it worth it to go to $180?

First the Red Sox got outbid for A-Rod. A championship soon followed.

Then the Red Sox got outbid for Johnny Damon. Once again, a championship soon followed.

Now the Red Sox are outbid for Teixeira. When will the misery end?

But wait - after the Red Sox lost A-Rod and Damon, it was BOSTON that went on to win the title! The first two times, Theo Epstein had the last laugh.

I still think getting Teixeira is a great move for the Yankees, but as we've seen before, the road to the title is unpredictable.

But while I hope Theo has the last laugh on Teixeira, I now see that the Mets are suddenly the front-runner for Derek Lowe. Apparently, the Red Sox are unwilling to give Lowe the money and years that he wants.

The last time Omar Minaya was willing to give an aging pitcher more years than the Red Sox were, the result was four years of Pedro Martinez.

It's one thing if the price drops the way K-Rod's did. But if the Mets sign Lowe for anything close to what Scott Boras is asking, I won't be able to give Squawker Lisa grief about the A.J. Burnett signing any more.

Cute, Jon. Don't expect the same outcome this coming year. The Yanks mean business more than ever and, although there are no guarantees regardless of the amount of money you spend, the Yanks chances of winning another title has just gone up exponentially.

poor choice of words emperor.
"the Yanks chances of winning another title has just gone up exponentially."
the appropriate statement would be: the Yanks chances of buying another title has just gone up exponentially.

Don't start with me, KM. I think it's time you get over with and deal with what the Yankees do and just concentrate on the Mets.

Remember a few months back when you so politely told me to butt out and worry about my own house when I commented my opinion about how unfair Willie was being treated?

Well, in this instance I think you need to back off and worry about your own house, because the Yankees aren't spending money to screw the Mets. They're spending money to try and imporve the Yanlees and field the best team possible for us fans, and although that is no guarantee for a championship, the Yankees are not doing anything wrong. They are operating within the framework of the business model put together by MLB and the Player's Union. Until a salary cap is instituted, the Yankees are well within their rights to spend their money how they please, and right now, getting the players we just got -- whether overpaid or not -- pleases them and us just fine.

The players still have to play the game in order for anything to be won, so let's wait and see what happens next year.

If you want for me to respect your opinions and your comments, I ask politely that you reciprocate that gesture. I have as much right to cheer my team on as you do yours, and if you don't want me knocking the Mets, how about cutting out the sarcasm and snide remarks about the Yankees?

I am one of those Yankee/Jet Fans
So this has been a mixed week for me. I am disgusted because of the Jets but The Yankees signing Tiexeira has made it better,
The Question now is will the Yankees, Mets or Dodgers get Manny and will the Mets get Derek Lowe?

I don't want manny as a met. he is a jack@ss and a clubhouse cancer. Winning is not that important to me that I would give up my principles to do it. otherwise, i would be a yankee fan!

Congratulations on your last two posts, KM. Wow, you really stuck it to me, especially with that "Empress" name. That's original.

This is the final time I address you in any way. You're just a silly pathetic kid that makes ridiculous comments with nothing valuable to say to me.

You're not worth it.

Good luck.
